KBS2 | Thursdays 9:50pm KST | Premieres March 26, 2026 | 12 Episodes × 70 min

A corporate manager in a crisp suit gets transferred to a rural village called Yeonriri, has to bring his entire family with him, knows absolutely NOTHING about farming, and spends the whole time trying to get back to Seoul while the village chief declares war on him.
I mean. What’s not to love?
The Premise

Sung Tae Hoon (Park Sung Woong) is a hardworking family man who’s climbed his way up to a managerial position at a big company in Seoul. Life is fine. Then he makes the mistake of volunteering for a transfer — to RESEARCH CABBAGE — fully expecting them to say no. They say yes. And now he’s been relocated to Yeonriri, a village nicknamed a “clean yet fierce zone,” with no farming knowledge, no rural living experience, and absolutely no desire to be there.
His wife Cho Mi Ryeo (Lee Soo Kyung) has been raising their three sons mostly on her own while also being an influencer on the side. She comes back from Canada with the boys, discovers what’s happened, and now has to help the whole family adjust to countryside life despite knowing nothing about it herself.
The village isn’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat either. Im Ju Hyeong (Lee Seo Hwan), the village chief who’s devoted to protecting Yeonriri, sees this city family as a threat. He orders the villagers not to help Tae Hoon. So you’ve got the city family screaming in frustration while the village chief cackles in the background. Classic.
But while the parents declare war, their children start getting closer. Tae Hoon’s eldest son Seong Ji Cheon (Lee Jin Woo) has secretly dropped out of medical school because it’s not his true path. He moves to Yeonriri with the family and starts searching for who he really is. That’s when he meets Im Bo Mi (Choi Gyu Ri), the village chief’s daughter and also the daughter of Nam Hye Seon (Nam Mi Jung), the women’s association president and a powerful figure in the community. So the kids are falling for each other while the dads are at each other’s throats. We’ve seen this trope before but when it’s done well, it WORKS.
Over time, the family stops trying to escape and starts discovering what actually matters — true happiness, the meaning of family, and the kind of peace you can’t find in a city office.
The Cast
Park Sung Woong (박성웅) as Sung Tae Hoon

Known for: Nine Puzzles, Unlock My Boss, New World, Nameless Gangster, Remember: War of the Son, Gap Dong, Dog Knows Everything
Right. Let me be honest. Park Sung Woong and I have a complicated relationship because this man ALWAYS plays characters I hate. They always do despicable things. He’s played gangsters, killers, manipulators, corrupt officials — every time I see his face on screen I’m preparing to be furious at whatever his character is about to do. And the annoying thing is he’s SO good at it that you genuinely despise him, which means he’s actually a brilliant actor. But still. The man has made me angry more times than I can count.
So when I saw him cast in a family comedy about a corporate dad who accidentally ends up farming cabbage in the countryside? I was like… wait. Park Sung Woong being FUNNY? Park Sung Woong being a loveable family man? Park Sung Woong NOT making me want to throw things at my screen?
The teaser basically confirms this is a whole new vibe for him. He literally breaks the fourth wall and says “I signed the contract because they said they would change my image as an actor, but it’s my first time burying cabbage instead of people.” BURYING CABBAGE INSTEAD OF PEOPLE. Even HE knows what we think of him. I respect the self-awareness.
This is his third time working with Lee Soo Kyung — they did Dog Knows Everything together and the play Rendez-vous — so the couple chemistry should already be there. He described the script reading as having “healing vibes” and said Lee Soo Kyung felt like family. That’s promising.
Lee Soo Kyung (이수경) as Cho Mi Ryeo

Known for: Dog Knows Everything, Extraordinary Attorney Woo (supporting), Birthcare Center
She plays the wife and mum who’s been holding the family together while her husband’s been busy climbing the corporate ladder. Three sons. An influencer side hustle. Returns from Canada to find her husband’s been transferred to the middle of nowhere. And instead of falling apart, she turns crisis into opportunity. She sounds like a super mum character and I’m here for it.
Lee Jin Woo (이진우) as Seong Ji Cheon

The eldest son who’s secretly dropped out of medical school. He’s realised it’s not his true path and he’s moved to Yeonriri with his family to figure out who he actually is. The “child who quits the prestigious career path to find themselves” storyline is always interesting when it’s done with nuance. And the fact that he falls for the village chief’s daughter while their dads are at war? That’s the Romeo and Juliet of cabbage farming.
Choi Gyu Ri (최규리) as Im Bo Mi

I’m actually a fan of Choi Gyu Ri! I saw her in Marry My Husband and ever since then I’ve been wanting to see more of her. I don’t know what it is but there’s something about her — a presence, a quality — that makes me believe she’s going to be a big star. She’s got IT. Whatever that thing is that separates someone who’s good from someone who’s going to be memorable, she’s got it. So seeing her in a main role here is exciting. She plays the village chief’s daughter and Ji Cheon’s love interest. She’s a native of Yeonriri and the daughter of both the village chief and the women’s association president — so this girl has roots in this community that run deep. The romance between her and Ji Cheon is going to be the heart of the younger generation’s storyline and honestly she might be the reason I stick with this one.
Lee Seo Hwan (이서환) as Im Ju Hyeong

Known for: Law and the City
The village chief. He’s devoted to protecting Yeonriri and he does NOT want this city family disrupting his community. He literally orders the villagers not to help Tae Hoon. The feud between him and Tae Hoon is clearly going to be the main comedic engine of the drama — two stubborn men who can’t stand each other while their children fall in love behind their backs.
Nam Mi Jung (남미정) as Nam Hye Seon

The women’s association president and a powerful figure in Yeonriri. She’s the driving force behind the community’s influence. Bo Mi’s mother. Another layer of the village power dynamics.
The Creative Team

The director is Choi Yeon Soo, who did Crazy Love and Into the Ring (also known as Memorials). Into the Ring was a fun underdog political comedy, so she’s got form with the kind of humour-meets-heart tone that Cabbage Your Life is going for.
The screenwriters are Song Jeong Rim (My Merry Marriage, Vengeance of the Bride) and Wang Hye Ji (Nothing Serious). Two writers working together, which often means they’re balancing the comedy and the emotional beats between them.
What I’m Looking Forward To

Park Sung Woong being likeable for once. I cannot stress enough how much this man has made me hate every character he’s ever played. Seeing him as a bumbling dad who’s out of his depth in the countryside instead of, I don’t know, murdering someone or running a crime syndicate? That’s going to be a whole new experience. I’m genuinely curious if I can watch him without wanting to shout at my screen.
The city vs countryside comedy. A family who knows nothing about rural life being thrown into a village where the chief doesn’t want them? That’s instant comedy. The fish-out-of-water setup writes itself.
The kids’ romance. Dad hates dad. Son loves daughter. That tension is always good when it’s played right — funny when it needs to be, sweet when it counts.
The healing arc. Every drama like this starts with the family wanting to escape and ends with them realising they’ve found something better than what they left behind. I’m a sucker for that journey when it’s earned.
12 episodes. Tight. No filler. Tell me the story, make me laugh, make me feel things, wrap it up.
